About Us

Duke Energy Indiana, a subsidiary of Duke Energy, provides about 6,600 megawatts of owned electric capacity to approximately 850,000 customers in a 23,000-square-mile service area, making it Indiana’s largest electric supplier. The company’s complex power generation plants and network of power lines and electrical infrastructure stretch across portions of 69 of Indiana’s 92 counties. Duke Energy serves more than 850,000 in Indiana cities ranging from Terre Haute and Vincennes in the west, to Kokomo and Huntington in the north, from Jeffersonville and New Albany in the south, to New Castle and Shelbyville in the east. The company employs more than 2,600 in Indiana to produce and deliver its power.

Duke Energy touches every aspect of Hoosier lives, whether it’s the lights in a home, the power that drives a manufacturing line, or the energy that keeps air conditioners humming. Electricity use and Indiana’s economy are interdependent. It’s not overstating it to say our economy runs on electricity, and Duke Energy—through its predecessor companies of Public Service Indiana, PSI Energy and Cinergy--have been part of this state’s growth for more than a century.

Over those years providing energy also meant being a leader in the state. It's a privilege to not just be a business, but also the human energy in a community.  That leadership manifests itself in different ways.  The company’s economic development work helps attract new industry and create jobs, and its charitable support fuels countless worthwhile causes, while the company’s employees and retirees volunteer in virtually every community it serves.
The company’s role as a provider of power that fuels Indiana makes it a central player in the state’s economy, history, and community life.
